Frustrated Green Brigade Issue Glasgow Derby Banner Statement

This morning, the Green Brigade took a strong stance against The Celtic Way after the website posted an image of the group’s tifo planned for today’s Glasgow Derby. The site, which presents itself as fan media while being funded and connected to the Herald Group in Glasgow, shared the image ahead of the game but quickly deleted it after the Green Brigade expressed their outrage.

The Green Brigade, who are well-known for their passionate displays at Celtic Park, issued the following statement regarding the incident:

“For almost 20 years, Celtic Park has had tifos to inspire the team thanks to fan donations and dedicated fan groups.

‘Most appreciate that part of the effect of a tifo is in the surprise, it is therefore frustrating that The Celtic Way, and its ‘journalists’ sought to ruin this. In doing so, they undermine the collective will of the thousands who contribute to, participate in, and enjoy the tifos while giving rival fans the opportunity to counter against Celtic fan displays.

Thank you, as always, to all fans who respect and make tifos possible.”

The Green Brigade’s displays have been a significant part of Celtic’s matchday experience for nearly two decades. From large-scale stadium displays to intricate designs in support of the team, their work has consistently elevated the atmosphere at Celtic Park. This season alone, they’ve already impressed with a full stadium tifo that set the tone for the campaign.

The decision by The Celtic Way to reveal the tifo ahead of time was seen as a serious breach of trust, especially considering the importance of surprise in such displays. Given that The Celtic Way operates under the Herald Group’s umbrella, with its ties to mainstream media and management linked to Rangers Review, it’s perhaps less surprising that this misstep occurred.

The Green Brigade’s frustration is understandable, as they continue to dedicate their efforts to making Celtic Park a fortress, not just on the pitch but in the stands as well. Their commitment to the club and its supporters is incredible, and moments like these only highlight the challenges they face from outside forces.

We look forward to their efforts today!
