Frozen Out Celt Stuck in Glasgow – Teammates Rally Round

Neil Lennon has revealed Marian Shved is having to go it alone in Scotland right now with his wife back in Ukraine.

The pandemic has meant a lot of airports have closed their doors leaving Shved with no option to tough it out in Glasgow.

The Celtic manager has revealed a few of his teammates have been keeping an eye on him because the winger doesn’t speak much English at all and doesn’t know many people outwith the club.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “We’ve got one player, Marian Shved from Ukraine. His wife is in Ukraine so he’s on his own. A couple of the lads have taken him under his wing and keeping an eye on him, making sure he’s okay.

“His English isn’t great. He was in today doing a little bit with one of the other players in a bit of a two-man training session.”

It’s good to hear the club are trying to look out for him but it’s less than ideal for the player who was already struggling at Celtic before the shutdown.

Since arriving in Glasgow in late April last year, Shved has failed to make an impression on Neil Lennon who hasn’t played him very much at all.

Hopefully, the player can be united with his family soon when the worst of this pandemic is over.
