Fringe Defender Officially Departs Celtic

It was widely reported a few days ago that Yuki Kobayashi was set to depart Celtic for Portimonense, and the move has now been made official.

The Portuguese second-tier outfit took to social media late last night to confirm the move, posting a few snaps of Kobayashi in their colours on their Instagram story:

Kobayashi has penned a four-year deal with Portimonense after a turgid spell with Celtic.

Despite initial excitement surrounding his move, the centre-half never got going, registering just seven appearances for the Bhoys.

This move comes as Brendan Rodgers continues to clear the decks going into the closing days of the transfer window.

The champions travel to face St. Mirren today at lunchtime, but the boss will also have his mind on strengthening his current squad.

When Matt O’Riley’s inevitable departure is confirmed, the team will be weaker than it was at the end of last season. The manager will want to ensure that changes before the window slams shut next Friday night.
