Friday Press Conference: Brendan Rodgers Welcomes Star Back to Squad in Latest Fitness Update

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Greg Taylor will return to the squad for Celtic’s trip to St Mirren on Saturday, after missing the midweek 5-1 win over Aberdeen.

Taylor was absent as his partner went into labour on Tuesday, welcoming their first child. That his absence had nothing to do with his expiring contract.

“Yeah, pretty much as we’ve been. Obviously, Greg Taylor will come back into the squad. So yeah, apart from that, it’ll be the same,” he told Celtic TV.

Celtic will still be without Paulo Bernardo, who remains sidelined with injury. The Portuguese midfielder is also a doubt for the Glasgow derby at Celtic Park, which will have away fans in attendance.

James Forrest is also unavailable, with no timeline yet for his return. It was supposed to be February, but now on the 28th, it’s unclear his status.

Celtic travel to Paisley knowing they will need to be at their best, with St Mirren full of confidence after their shock 2-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox last weekend.

A victory could see Celtic maintain or extend their 16-point lead at the top of the Premiership table, but that all depends on results elsewhere.

Rangers are hosting Motherwell, whose manager picked up a win midweek at home to a struggling Dundee.

Barry Ferguson’s side came from two goals down to beat Kilmarnock on Wednesday, with the celebrations leading to a mini pitch invasion as they cut the gap to 13 points.
