Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted at the possibility of extending his stay at Parkhead but insists his focus remains on what is best for the club rather than his own future.

Rodgers’ current contract runs until the summer of 2026, meaning he would have spent almost six years at Celtic across both of his spells by the time it expires. However, as he prepares for the next stage of the club’s development, the 52-year-old remains non-committal about whether he will extend his stay beyond his existing deal.
Speaking on the matter, Rodgers said: [TCW]
“To be fair we’ve not really had any conversation around that (a new contract). I think that we’ll always look at what is the very best thing for Celtic.”
“Above any individual will always be what is right for Celtic. But certainly, when I came back, domestically my record was okay and I knew to become better in Europe I needed a stronger squad. The club have been fantastic that way in terms of providing that.
“We’ve shown what we can do and all within the finances of the club. Hopefully, going forward we can continue to push that way so we can keep becoming a seasonal team at that level and challenging. In terms of the length of me staying here, I’m obviously very happy here.
“But it will always be what is best for Celtic. But at this moment in time, the real focus is finishing the season as strong as we can.”
Rodgers’ return to Celtic almost two years ago summer came with the clear ambition of making the club stronger in Europe. While his domestic record has been exceptional, he acknowledges that the next step for Celtic is to establish themselves as regular competitors on the biggest stage.
Celtic’s recent Champions League campaign, which saw them compete strongly against Bayern Munich, has reaffirmed Rodgers’ belief that the team is moving in the right direction.
But whether that will be enough to persuade him to commit long-term remains to be seen.
With a strong summer transfer window and another successful European campaign, Rodgers could be tempted to stay longer.
