With the Hoops looking to maintain their domestic momentum after their dramatic League Cup triumph over Rangers, Rodgers faces a few selection headaches due to injuries and illness.

One key area of concern is the availability of Alistair Johnston, who played through the pain in Celtic’s cup success after he suffered a hip issue during the Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb.

Rodgers is keen not to take any risks with the Canadian full-back.

“So, Alistair Johnson, we just need to have an eye on him as well over these next couple of days. If he misses out this weekend, he’ll be fine for the next game. But we just managed that injury that he had.”

If Johnston is unavailable, Anthony Ralston is expected to step in at right-back. Ralston has already proven himself a reliable deputy this season, and his solid performance in the League Cup Final penalty shootout win showcased his readiness to contribute.

Rodgers also revealed that illness has swept through parts of the squad, potentially affecting his selection options for the Tannadice trip.

“We’ve had a few bugs and bits and pieces going about. So, hopefully, they can tidy themselves up over the next couple of days and we have most of our players available for the weekend.”

With a hectic festive schedule ahead, Rodgers will be hoping the illness clears up quickly to avoid further disruption as the Hoops push to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The update follows the confirmation that James Forrest will be sidelined for up to six weeks after sustaining an injury in the League Cup Final. The 33-year-old winger was seen in a moon boot after the match, and his absence further reduces Celtic’s options on the flanks.
