Nothing much else has been made of the interest from Celtic for Jose Cifuentes since Neil Lennon mentioned in passing he was a player who was on the club’s radar.
It’s been pretty quiet until yesterday when reports came through the player was approached by Manchester City over a deal to bring him to the UK.
With Man City’s financial clout, there’s little to no chance Celtic could compete with the English Champions when it comes to terms.
However, SunSport reports that Manchester City’s approach for the player has been rebuffed, perhaps giving Celtic some room to manoeuvre and steal a march on the youngster’s signature.
Jose already spoke to SunSport this month claiming interest from Celtic but ‘nothing concrete’. After starring for his country at under-20 level at the World Cup, Cifuentes is looking to make a name for himself in Europe.
Neil Lennon is certainly not done in the transfer market yet and is still looking for a central midfielder after the David Turnbull deal fell through.
