Fresh Hope for Celtic – UEFA President Makes Season Claim

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has given Celtic Supporters new hope that they might be able to see their team win nine in a row on the field.

All the talk has been about ending the season and the SPFL proposal gives us a clear plan B, but Plan A for Celtic has always been to finish the season — even if that means doing it behind closed doors.

While we might not be in the stands, being able to watch our heroes drive home their advantage from our homes would give us a great amount of satisfaction.

The UEFA President has always been optimistic about the season resuming at some point and he’s again banging that drum as UEFA prepare to talk with the 55 associations on Thursday.

“The priority is the health of fans, players and managers.” Ceferin told SunSport.

“I am an optimist by nature and I believe there are options that can allow us to start championships and complete them.

“We may have to play without spectators, but the most important thing I think is playing games.

“In such hard times it would bring people happiness and a certain sense of normality, even if the matches will only be on TV.

“It is early to say that we cannot complete the season. The impact would be terrible for clubs and leagues.

“We can finish, but we must respect the decisions of the authorities and wait for permission to return to play.

“It depends on when it will recover, if we can do it soon enough, leagues and cups could be played in parallel.

“There is no deadline for the Champions League and Europa League and there are no deadlines for the 2019/20 season.”

This is some comfort Celtic could yer play out the season. If we can’t — Celtic will rightfully be crowned champions after excelling in 2020.

People’s health must always come first.
