Reports in Greece claim Celtic are willing to put down a large chunk of cash for AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilios Barkas if they cant secure a deal for Fraser Forster. Greek media outlet SDNA have claimed the player is on Celtic’s radar and the club would have to spend upwards of £5m to get a deal done.
Celtic do have a situation with goalkeepers to sort out. The future of both Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon is up in the air and there’s a scenario where neither return to the club. Celtic still have Scott Bain, but beyond that, youth goalkeepers.
Nicky Hammond and his scouting team must be on hand and ready with options should deals fall through elsewhere.
Vasilios Barkas, 26, has played for Athens first team since 2016, he comes highly recommended but it would all depend on the figures.
Most Celtic fans would prefer to see Fraser back to finish what he helped start and bring the ten in a row home.
