Celtic’s midfield is one of the side’s strongest areas of the park with Ange Postecoglou having assembled a wealth of quality and depth in the engine room.
The likes of Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and Aaron Mooy are top, top players and these are not the only options available to Postecoglou with the likes of Matt O’Riley and Tomoki Iwata also proving to be more than ample alternatives.
Between fans, there is always a wealth of debate regarding who the foremost trio in midfield is and now, former Celtic forward Frank McAvennie has revealed his opinions on the matter.
Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said:
“I believe Hatate, [Tomoki] Iwata and [Callum] McGregor are the best midfield, they are the three that I would love to see playing together. I think that will happen next year.”
That is undoubtedly a strong midfield three but it neglects the creativity of the likes of Mooy and O’Riley.
Nevertheless, it would a more than sufficient trio that could cause some damage in Scotland and beyond.
