Four or Five Changes; Predicted Celtic Starting XI

The games continue to come thick and fast for the Scottish champions with this Champions League campaign being a complete whirlwind.

Due to the World Cup being so late in the year, the usual period between Champions League matches was shortened with group stage matches finishing a month in advanced of when they would typically halt.

It is still mathematically possible for Celtic to qualify for European football but they must beat Shakhtar Donetsk to be in with a shout of being in the mix for third place.

The match finished all square the last time both clubs met, with Ange Postecoglou’s side walking away feeling as if they should have won the match with the amount of chances they created.

That has been the story of the clubs group stage campaign but it is clear to see what Postecoglou is trying to do in the competition which is not an overnight fix.

Celtic have stuck to their attacking principles and haven’t looked out of place in the tournament with every game being very competitive.

Having won three games on the bounce for the first time since late August/early September, the Hoops go into this match with a bit of momentum after their hard-fought victory at Tynecastle at the weekend which they showed a lot of resilience and character in.

The previous game tends to show the managers thinking head into the next match with some usual starters being left on the bench against Hearts

One constant throughout the three games has been the centre defensive pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Moritz Jenz who are likely to partner each other this evening in front of goalkeeper Joe Hart.

With Josip Juranovic and match winner Greg Taylor starting on the bench at the weekend they will also likely come into defence.

The midfield trio of O’Riley, Hatate and Mooy appear to be performing well and the manager will be likely to stick with this.

In the forward line, with Kyogo not featuring at all on the weekend in the 4-3 victory, he will likely start up top for the Scottish champions with Sead Haksabanovic also likely to come into the side with James Forrest possibly given the nod after another goal at the weekend.
