Conroy’s remarks come after a contentious match at Ibrox where Silva was involved in several dubious incidents.

Conroy expressed his frustration with Silva’s tactics, stating, “What an appalling display from Silva. A deliberate attempt to deceive the referee & get an opponent sent off.” [Record Sport live blog]

The incident that drew significant attention occurred in the second half when Silva was booked for simulation after a challenge from Celtic’s Alistair Johnston. However, the decision was overturned after a VAR review led referee John Beaton to award a penalty to Rangers. James Tavernier converted the penalty, significantly altering the momentum of the game.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw, leaving Celtic to rue missed opportunities after twice leading by a goal. Despite the draw, Celtic remains in a strong position to clinch the Scottish Premiership title, needing six wins from their remaining matches to secure a third consecutive championship.
