Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has received a wealth of criticism from a player whom he worked with at Leicester City. The Irishman spent a number of years with the Foxes, leading them to their first-ever FA Cup win.
Nampalys Mendy, though, has revealed that he wasn’t too happy with how Rodgers managed him. The Frenchman spent five years with the club, making over 100 appearances.
Mendy played under a fair few Leicester gaffers, but it seems as though Rodgers was the worst. He said (L’Equipe via Daily Record): “Everything was going well until (Claude) Puel got fired (in February 2019). Another manager arrived in Brendan Rodgers, and he gradually pushed me aside. I never head back. He just kept telling me: ‘I have nothing to reproach you for’.”

This undoubtedly would have been a frustrating situation for Mendy. He eventually did see out his contract at the King Power Stadium, but he will not fondly remember his time there, at least when Rodgers was at the helm.
His case is curious, but Mendy simply seemed surplus to requirements. There are several players in the current Celtic squad in similar positions whose current futures remain up in the air.
