Former Ibrox Commentator Admits Celtic Park Atmosphere Is One Of The Best
Legendary commentator Clive Tyldesley has admitted that Celtic Park has the superiority of atmosphere compared to their Glasgow rivals.
Tyldesley has been a figure well-known by football supporters across the land for many years and has seen it all during his illustrious career.
His comments will raise some eyebrows as for as he joined the Rangers commentary team for a short time during season 2020/21.
Alongside the Hoops, he has also picked Liverpool as the two clubs he believes have the best atmospheres going having visited both on many an occasion.
“Well you can’t beat a football match under lights, so, night matches you almost tend to think automatically about, European games, Champions League games,” said Tyldesley as quoted by the [daily record].
“I think Anfield and Celtic Park are both very very special on a major European night. Somehow the connection between the football club and the fans transcends that virtually anywhere else I’ve known.

“I mean I’ve seen wild atmospheres in Turkey and Greece but, in terms of the actual engagement with the football club, I think that Liverpool and Celtic have a history of getting that right. And that creates an atmosphere which gives a genuine home advantage, home advantage isn’t what it is cranked up to be sometimes, particularly if you are not playing very well, you are under pressure from the first mistake.
“The positivity you get and that element of intimidation for the opponent walking out into that atmosphere, seeing You’ll Never Walk Alone, sang at both grounds, beforehand. Yeah, I mean, Champions League night at Anfield or Celtic Park.”
Celtic returned back to Europe’s premier elite competition this season having not competed in the Champions League for five years.
During the first match against Real Madrid the roar was absolutely incredible and it felt as though Celtic were back where they belonged.
Over the years, many managers have used the crowd at Paradise as a motivator which has helped produce many memorable nights as the Hoops have beaten the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester United.
Tyldesley joins a long list of prominent figures in the game to praise the famous Celtic Park atmosphere.
Admittedly, it’s not like it used to be but can still be used as key tool on big nights to give the team that big extra push.
