David Murray Used Celtic Lie to Land £6.5million Star

Former Ibrox player Michael Ball has lifted the lid on what persuaded him to sign for the old Rangers all those years ago.

It was down to David Murray who took the player around Ibrox feeding him stories about the club, but what he dropped instead was quite the stretch.

Speaking to the ‘All Together Now Everton Podcast’, Ball said as he was walking around Murray said there was an agreement in place for Celtic and Rangers to move to the Premier League.

“I went to Ibrox and met David Murray and he sold the move to me. He showed me around Ibrox and told me stories. It was fascinating.

“He told me what he wanted to do, which was to be in the English Premier League in two years time. It was agreed with Celtic and UEFA.

“He sold it to me and I phoned my dad on the pitch and told him I was signing.

Of course, we know that there was absolutely no deal in place for anything.

Maybe Micheal is mistaken, then again, with the amount of stuff that eventually came out of Ibrox – you wouldn’t bet against this being said to coax a player into signing.
