Former Celtic first-team coach Harry Kewell has provided an insight on Ange Postecoglou, having worked with the Tottenham boss during their time together in Glasgow.
With Ange facing growing pressure at Tottenham, Kewell looked back on his time at Celtic with joy and is hoping to see the Australian bring the same kind of exciting football to North London.
However, Kewell stayed around for the first six months of Brendan Rodgers’ return before being appointed head coach of Ange’s former club, Yokohama F. Marinos. The fact that the former Liverpool winger worked with Ange played a huge part in Kewell getting the job.
It didn’t go to plan for Kewell in Japan, as he was sacked after just seven months, but he believes his time with Ange has had a huge impact on how he coaches players.

Kewell said: (Sky Sports News), “He (Ange) is different, but the fact is that he allows you to go and express yourself.
“There would be times when you would be in training, and you would want to stop it. But he would be like ‘no, let them figure it out, because that’s what players do’. I loved the way that he coached.
“The way that I saw him work, up in Scotland, I just thought ‘that is something I can learn throughout my coaching career, to be able to manipulate certain things and work in that way’.
“I think he gives you the freedom. But that comes with a consequence because he wants that high press. The high energy. The high work rate.
“Again, that’s the exciting thing.”

Kewell, like everyone who worked with Ange at Celtic, can’t speak fondly enough of their season together in which the Hoops won a domestic treble.
For now, Ange will look to turn his time around at Tottenham, with Spurs still in the Europa League. It appears if he wants to remain in charge, he may very well have to win the competition, with Tottenham currently sitting 14th in the English Premier League.
