Former Champions League Winner Raves About Impressive Wideman

Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves has heavily praised Celtic’s new summer signing, Joao Jota, after his performances against Real Betis on Thursday night.

As quoted by TBR, speaking on the BT Sport highlights show, Hargreaves believed that Jota was a ‘handful’ for the Betis defence all game, with him pointing out several attributes which impressed him during the 90 minutes.

“I’ll tell you what; Jota was a handful all game, terrific. Step overs, trickery, bit of pace. Puts in a perfect ball for Ajeti,” Hargreaves said.

It is early days in the 22-year olds career with Celtic so far. However, I think Thursday showed we have a player on our hands.

He played his part in the opening goal with a lovely delivery into the box for Albian Ajeti to get on the end of and continued to be a threat throughout the game.

The talented winner has played two entire 90 minutes in his first two appearances due to the current lack of wingers with injury issues around the club, so you could see he tired a little towards the end.

Fans are excited to see more of the on-loan Benfica winger, who will bring a lot to the side and improve even further under Ange Postecoglou this campaign.
