Former Champions League Hero Sets Eyes On Future Celtic Role

Former Hoops midfielder and Champions League hero Massimo Donati has expressed his desire to one day be the manager of Celtic.

Speaking to Tribal Football, the Italian who played in the Green and White for two years between 2007 and 2009 admitted it would one day be his dream to become manager of the club.

Donati is famously known in the East End of Glasgow for his winning Champions league goal against against Shakhtar Donetsk.

“I have big plans as a manager in the future, I am just waiting for the right opportunity and I can’t wait for it to arrive.

‘I have had many good coaches in my career and I have always tried to ‘steal’ something from each of them to be ready when my time comes.

“Celtic is really a great club, not even I was aware of its greatness until I found myself living it every day,” Donati adds.

‘From the point of view of the organisation (and not only that), it is very similar to Milan. My dream/goal is to become manager of Celtic one day.”

To some, Donati could be seen as a bit of a cult hero who instantly ‘got it’ when it came to all things Celtic and clearly still has that love for the club.

During his time here he was able to play his part in the 2007/08 Scottish Premiership win and even managed to score a memorable Champions League goal against Shakhtar Donetsk.

So far in his short coaching career, Donatti has had the experience of being an assistant manager at Kilmarnock under Angelo Alessio. speaking highly of his time at the Ayrshire club.

He is still yet to step into his own managerial role elsewhere, so it remains to be seen what type of manager he really is.

It is probably highly unlikely that Donati will return to the club in that capacity but it is nice to see the love the 39-year old has for the club to this date.
