BARRY ROBSON arrived at Parkhead in the January of 2008 for a fee of £1million.
He was an uninspiring signing. At the age of 29, he had been around and left fans questioning why the midfielder had arrived at Celtic. On his hoops debut, he scored with his first touch. Coming on from the bench, he scored a brilliant freekick as the Bhoys beat Aberdeen 5-1.

He was also a star in Celtic’s Glasgow Derby win that year; Robson ran the midfield, ensuring that rangers knew what they were up against with a crunching first-half tackle.
Speaking to SunSport, Paul Hartley opened up about a moment just two days into Robson’s Celtic career, saying; [Open Goal]
“You know what Robbo was like, he was chirpy and always giving it out.
“He signed for Celtic on the last day of the window and two days later he was in for a pay rise.
“He was like ‘I’m going into see them, I’ve just found out what you’re on and he’s on’ and I was like okay then, good luck with that.”
I would’ve loved to have been a fly on Peter Lawwel’s wall when Barry had that conversation. Peter was not known for his generosity at Celtic, so two days after signing a deal, Barry would have been onto plums!
