Former Celtic Youngster Up For Championship Player of the Year Award

Celtic have a number of ex players who go on to excel in colours that are not green and white and youngster Grant Savoury is the next to be added to that list.

Departing the Hoops permanently in 2020 after spending a number of years in the youth ranks, Savoury joined Peterhead.

He stayed there for just under a year before departing for Queen’s Park last summer.

For the Spiders, the 22 year old has found his feet in the senior game.

In the Scottish championship in 2022/23, the forward has bagged 10 goals and five assists across 34 appearances.

As a result of this prodigious form, Savoury has been nominated for the PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year Award for 2022/23:

Savoury faces some stiff competition for the accolade but certainly has the capability of winning it.

His main focus, though, will be on securing promotion for Queen’s Park.

Owen Coyle’s men currently sit second in the table going into the final match day of the season where they will play first place Dundee.

Two points behind, a win would see them secure the title and thus promotion to the Premiership.

This will be Savoury’s foremost aim but he will also have the Player of the Year award in the back of his mind.
