Niall McGinn is back in Scottish football after agreeing a one-year deal with League One side Peterhead.
The 37-year-old winger, well known to Celtic supporters for his three-year spell at Parkhead, has opted to continue his career in the third tier of Scottish football.

McGinn spent the last two-and-a-half years playing in Northern Ireland with Glentoran but had a loan spell at Greenock Morton last season, offering a hint that a full-time return to Scotland was on the cards.
McGinn was on Celtic’s books between 2009 and 2012, having signed from Derry City. He made 36 appearances for the Hoops, scoring six goals, and played his part in Neil Lennon’s side that lifted the Scottish Cup in 2011.
Although he never fully established himself as a regular starter in a competitive Celtic squad, his pace and direct style made him a useful option out wide.

After leaving Celtic, McGinn enjoyed a long and productive spell with Aberdeen, where he became a key player and fan favourite under Derek McInnes. He also had spells in England with Brentford and later returned to his hometown club Derry City before joining Glentoran.

Peterhead will hope McGinn’s arrival can provide a much-needed injection of quality and experience as they look to climb out of League One. With over 70 caps for Northern Ireland and experience across several levels, the veteran wide man adds leadership on and off the park.
McGinn’s move marks another chapter in a long career that has spanned more than 15 years across multiple leagues. Peterhead’s capture of a player with top-level pedigree could prove a shrewd bit of business as they aim to compete at the top end of the table this season.
