Former Celtic Target Released By Club

Reported January transfer target Adam Reach has been released by his club Sheffield Wednesday.

Back in the winter window, Lancashire Live reported that Reach was being monitored by the Hoops as he entered the last six months of his contract.

But now, the former £5 million was released by Wednesday which was announced on the club’s website this afternoon.

Last season, the 28-year old played a total of 49 games for the Championship side in what was a tough campaign that saw them relegated to English League One on the final day of the season.

Celtic have certainly been in the need of wide players, with Mohamed Elyounoussi being the only fit winger for the majority of last season.

As well as being able to play on the wing, Reach is also capable of filling in another of Celtic’s trouble positions this season at left-back.

With it being a free transfer, there doesn’t seem to be much risk involved in the deal apart from not knowing what sort of quality he possesses as a player.

In January, the club signing one of his former teammates in Liam Shaw on a pre-contract to make the move up north to Glasgow. So, who knows maybe he can give the new manager or scouting team a glowing reference of what Reach is capable of, after the club’s previous interest.
