Former Celtic target and Union Berlin striker Sebastian Andersson has reportedly handed in a transfer request, to leave the Bundesliga side.
According to German website Kicker, the Swedish striker was not involved in the German sides DFB Bokal tie against Karlsruher due to this request and him wanting to depart the club.
At the beginning of the window, it was clear that Celtic manager Neil Lennon was after another striker. We have been linked with several, including Steven Fletcher, Lyle Taylor and the 29-year old Union frontman, who had 16 goal contributions in 36 games.
Of course though, Lennon in the end went for Swiss striker Albian Ajeti instead and that looks to have been an incredibly sensible decision. The former Basel and West Ham striker has got off to a flyer in the hoops, scoring three goals in his first three league appearances.
Maybe if Andersson had handed in a transfer request earlier in the window, there may have been a chance of the Northern Irishman, making a move for him. But for now, I think Lennon will be more than happy with his striking options that are available to him.
