Former Celtic Striker Completes MLS Move

Celtic has seen its fair share of strikers who, despite their potential, have not quite met the lofty expectations set for them. Teemu Pukki certainly falls into this category.

Pukki, a Finnish centre-forward, transferred to Celtic from Bundesliga’s Schalke in 2013. Unfortunately, his tenure with the Hoops was rather underwhelming.

Due to Pukki’s lacklustre performances, Celtic loaned him to Brondby, a club based in Denmark, in the following season. By 2015, the Finnish striker had permanently joined the Danish team.

Pukki’s career trajectory took an upward turn when he moved to Norwich. He quickly made a name for himself there, becoming a fan favourite and a consistently high performer. During his prime years at Carrow Road, he amassed a staggering 88 goals and provided 29 assists in 210 appearances.

However, Pukki’s contract with Norwich came to an end this summer. Now, at 33, he has moved across the Atlantic to join Minnesota United in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Pukki has signed on as Minnesota United’s designated player, with a contract extending until June 2025. His new team currently holds the 12th position in the Western Conference of the MLS. With Pukki’s arrival and proven ability to find the back of the net, they will undoubtedly look forward to a potential surge up the leaderboard.
