The French striker, who was signed by Brendan Rodgers during his first spell at Parkhead, is currently plying his trade in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ettifaq. However, the 28-year-old has now taken his first steps into the business side of the game with this latest move.

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed the news on social media, confirming that Dembele completed the purchase through his investment group, Triple M. This group also owns AS Mansa in Mali.

FK Minija, based in the town of Kretinga, compete in the second tier of Lithuanian football. While it might not be the most high-profile league, the investment signals Dembele’s intent to build a presence in football ownership and development.

The former Celtic forward enjoyed great success in Glasgow, scoring 51 goals across two seasons and playing a pivotal role in Rodgers’ invincible treble-winning side.

He’s best known for his hat-trick in his first ever Glasgow Derby. He came on from off the bench in the first half, after Leigh Griffiths picked up an injury, and made his mark.

His latest venture into club ownership will be watched with interest, particularly by Celtic fans who remember him fondly for his impact at Parkhead.
