Former Celtic Star Takes Up Surprising Dual Role

The summer transfer window always manages to conjure up a number of surprising moves. Celtic have yet to be involved in any this summer although one of their former players have in Aiden McGeady.

At Hibernian for the past year, the Irishman has now dropped down a level and joined Scottish Championship side Ayr United. McGeady has signed a two year deal at Somerset Park and will take up a dual role of player and Technical Manager.

He plied his trade at Celtic for a number of years and made over 220 appearances for the club. McGeady was a valuable asset at Parkhead before departing for Spartak Moscow in 2010.

The now 37-year-old went on to play for a number of teams after this although his most recent spell came at Hibs but it was ravaged by injury. He never seemed to find his feet in Leith yet will be aiming to in Ayrshire. McGeady joins United on a free, the Honest Men carrying out a shrewd bit of business with the signing.

Undoubtedly, McGeady has the ability and if he finds fitness, he could be a key player for Ayr as they look to push for promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
