Former Celtic striker Antony Stoke is set for a trial with Shamrock Rovers in a bid to end his absence from the game.
Stokes has not played at all in 16 months and has not had a club since leaving Livingston just a month after he signed on with the SPFL club.
The reason given at the time was Anthony was unable to play on the synthetic surface.
Since leaving Celtic, Anthony’s career has had a lot of lows. He did have a decent spell with Hibs but that ended with Neil Lennon sacking the player.
He’s played in Greece and Iran, all spells ending in the player and the club falling out.
The Irish Independent claim he could have a route back into the game through Shamrock Rovers if he can prove his ability and fitness at the age of 32.
The trial is set to take lace on Tuesday evening, behind closed doors in Dublin. The newspaper also claims there’s interest from Scotland and Turkey for the striker but the pull of living in Dublin could be enough to see a deal happen.
