Former Celtic Star Ntcham Given Cameroon World Cup Call-Up

Former Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham has been called up to the Cameroon World Cup squad [@fifaworldcup_fr].

He had previously represented France at youth level, often appearing alongside former Celtic teammates Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.

While at Celtic, he switched international allegiances to Cameroon but was not handed his first cap until September against Uzbekistan after impressing for Swansea City in the Championship having made 19 appearances this season scoring five goals and contributing two assists.

Although he has only made two appearances for his national side, he has been given the nod to travel to Qatar with Cameroon being drawn in a group against Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland.

Having featured in both preparation friendlies, there was a chance that he would be selected and will now compete for a chance in midfield for Rigobert Song’s side.

On his day, Ntcham was a classy player for Celtic and played a big part in the Hoops historical treble successes. However, his most fondest highlight is undoubtedly his last gasp goal in Rome to send the Celtic faithful wild and to secure a victory in Italy for the first time in the clubs history.

Ntcham departed Celtic permanently last August after a short loan spell at Marseille which will mean that the Hoops are likely to receive some sort of payment for his participation at the World Cup
