Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has received a shock call-up to the provisional Scotland squad for Euro 2024.

This last-minute decision by Scotland manager Steve Clarke comes as the team faces a series of injuries, complicating their preparations for the tournament. Recently, Ben Doak withdrew from the squad, and Clarke added Tommy Conway to the squad as a replacement for Lyndon Dykes.

An outfield player and a goalkeeper are expected to be dropped for the tournament which kicks off next Friday.
Morgan, who has been impressive this season for New York Red Bulls with nine goals and three assists, was not initially expected to join the national team for the upcoming friendly against Finland. However, his performances in the MLS have earned him this surprise inclusion, potentially granting him his third international cap and his first since a 2018 friendly against Mexico.
The Brendan Rodgers signing left Celtic before Covid struck in January 2020 to head to David Beckham’s Inter Miami, but has since moved to NYRB.
