Former Celtic Star Dodges Poor Career Move

SHAUN MALONEY was the leading candidate to take over from Mark McGhee in Tayside, however, talks have come to a halt. [BBC Sport]

The former Celtic player was sacked by Hibs, despite the feeling that he should have been given more time to build his side. He was trying to build something at the Edinburgh side, bringing in a different brand of football.

Shaun only had one opportunity to bring in players, and that was in January which isn’t the best transfer window for building a squad. However, the Hibs chiefs believed they’d seen enough to show Maloney the door.

With talks going sour with Dundee, Maloney could be set to head to Burnely. Belgian manager Vincent Kompany is set to take over at the club and is thought to take Maloney with him to be his number two.

Gordon Strachan continues the search for Dundee’s new manager, with the proposed Celtic reunion now off the cards.

It’s a lucky escape for Maloney if you as us. The former Celtic coach is desperate to make his mark in management but he has to make sure it’s the right club at the right time. Dundee seems like a poisoned chalice.
