Former Celtic Midfielder Undergoes Medical in Home Town – Free Agent

Former Celtic midfielder and Neil Lennon signing Ki Sung-yueng is on the verge of a return to FC Seoul 11 years after he left the club to join Celtic according to reports in Chosun.

Ki has played in a few leagues since leaving South Korea. Celtic was his first destination before he moved to Swansea in a £6m deal (TransferMarkt). At the time, Ki was a good player for Celtic but never really fit into Neil Lennon’s starting XI. He was certainly a character during his time at the club.

The player joined Newcastle during the 18/19 season but the move didn’t work out. Ki spent last season playing in Spain on a short term deal but now he’s ready to return home.

Seoul get first refusal on the player. This appears to be something the Korean League institutes if a player heads out of South Korea to play.

The report claims the player has undergone a medical and is ready to sign.

We wish him all the best.
