Former Celtic Midfielder Sacked after Nine League Matches

HARTLEPOOL UNITED has announced the sacking of former Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley after just nine league games with the club.

The former Cove Rangers manager lost five games and drew a further four with the English side, leaving them second bottom of the English League Two. His assistant, Gordon Young, has also been sacked.

The final straw for the club was the 2-0 loss to Sutton, with the hierarchy not seeing any hope from the performance.

In a statement from the club, they confirmed that poor performance and lack of results drove the decision to release those in charge from their duties.

It’s going to be a long and tough season for the side, who look to be in a relegation battle already.

There are some big games just around the corner for the side, with an away cup tie against Morecambe in their next match. Hartlepool already have a win in the group stages of the cup, looking to add another to their tally on Tuesday night.
