Former Celtic Midfielder Lands Hertha Berlin Role

MARK FOTHERINGHAM has been announced as the assistant manager of German club Hertha Berlin. Felix Magath leads the side that currently sit second bottom of the Bundesliga.

The news comes after it was revealed earlier this week that the former Celtic man would not be heading to Cyprus with Neil Lennon.

Fotheringham has been brought into the club until the end of the season as they attempt to steer clear of relegation.

Some Celtic fans may be familiar with the club. Former Hoops defender Dedryck Boyata left Parkhead to join the German team. Since then, he has been privileged to captain the struggling team.

Fotheringham must have known he had an opportunity on the Horizon to snub Neil Lennon’s offer. His official excuse was that the wage package didn’t suit him.

He has a tough job on his hands, but he has plenty of time to escape the relegation zone with his new side just two points away from safety with eight games left.
