Former Celtic Man Drops Down A Tier Abroad

Former Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson departed the club in 2018. He initially moved to Bari and since then, has made quite the career for himself in Italy.

Turning out for several clubs across the country, Henderson has made a total of 180 appearances for four different Italian teams. A fifth was recently added to that list in Serie B side Palermo.

The 27-year-old joined the club on a one-year loan deal despite helping Empoli to Serie A survival in 2022/23. For Palermo, Henderson has already made his debut, coming off the bench in a 3-1 win away at Reggiana on Tuesday evening.

He will be eager to help his new team gain promotion to Italy’s top flight after they narrowly missed out on the play-offs last campaign. It wouldn’t be the first time he helped an Italian team go up after he did so with Hellas Verona in 2019.

Henderson certainly took the unorthodox route away from Celtic after making 37 appearances for the club. Things have worked out for him in Italy, and the Scot has made a respectable career for himself.
