In the winter window, Celtic were on the hunt for a striker.
Several names were mentioned and although South Korean Oh Hyeon-Gyu eventually joined the club from Suwon Bluewings, one of his fellow countrymen were close to doing so prior to him.
Cho Gue-Sung impressed at the World Cup in Qatar and bagged a brace against Ghana.
Such form inevitably sparked interest in him with Celtic being a potential destination.
Nevertheless in spite of the Hoops’ interest, the player elected to stay in his homeland.
This summer, though, Cho has made his way out of South Korea and finally got his move to Europe.

In the Danish top flight, Cho has signed for FC Midtjylland.
Celtic fans will remember Midtjylland for when they defeated Celtic in Champions League qualifying very early on in Ange Postecoglou’s tenure.
It is not the best move for Cho and it is fair to say he made the wrong move not to come to Celtic earlier on.
Now, he is joining a team who finished in the bottom half of Denmark’s top flight last season when previously he could have been joining a treble winning, Champions League side.
