Scott Bain has officially signed for Falkirk, ending his seven-and-a-half-year stint at Celtic. The experienced goalkeeper was unveiled by the League One champions this afternoon after penning a one-year deal.

Bain had been with Celtic since January 2018, initially arriving on loan from Dundee before making the move permanent. He served under multiple managers at Parkhead and collected several winners’ medals, including league titles and domestic cups, despite often being the club’s second or third-choice keeper.
With Brendan Rodgers reshaping his squad for the new campaign, Bain found himself out of favour. Celtic now have Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo competing for the number one spot, signalling a clear change in direction for the goalkeeping department, with Ross Doohan reportedly set to come in as third choice to replace Bain directly.
Bain said: (Falkirk FC), “It’s great to be here. The club is very well run and it’s a really great set-up. It’s full of good people, and that’s a part of the reason I wanted to come here.
“I think I can come in and help a bit in terms of experience with the league and with the team’s style of play. I’m really looking forward to working with the squad and the management team.
“The boys have done an incredible job over the last two years and hopefully I can help this season to be an other successful one for the club and the fans.”

Bain’s departure from Celtic is part of a wider transition as the club trims its squad and adds younger players ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. He leaves behind a record of reliability when called upon and professionalism throughout his time at the Hoops.
For Falkirk, this is a statement signing. Bain brings top-flight experience and a winning mentality into a dressing room already thriving after last season’s promotion campaign. His presence could be key in steadying the ship as the Bairns adjust to the Premiership.

Though Bain never established himself as Celtic’s undisputed number one in recent years, he remained a dependable deputy and a valued squad member during a successful era for the club. His contribution behind the scenes won’t be forgotten by those who worked closely with him.
Now entering a new stage of his career under John McGlynn, Bain will be hoping that regular football and a fresh environment can reignite his form. It’s a low-risk, high-upside move for Falkirk—and a welcome new challenge for the former Scotland international.
