Former Celtic fringe player Eoghan O’Connell yesterday helped Wrexham to back-to-back promotions in the English pyramid.
The Irishman, who came to the Hoops as a 15-year-old from Avondale United in his homeland, played the full game as Wrexham put six past Forest Green to secure their place in League One for next season:

O’Connell joined the Welsh-based side at the tail-end of the January window last year. He came in and played a big part in their National League title win and this campaign, has once more been a consistent performer at the heart of a back five.
For Celtic, the now 28-year-old made just 13 senior competitive appearances but perhaps his most memorable moment in green and white came in a friendly with English champions Leicester City in 2016 when he stroked home from the edge of the box.
He does have four Scottish Premiership league winners’ medals to his name along with two League Cups, but he will be looking to add to his tally with a League Two triumph.
Wrexham winning the title to couple their promotion is unlikely but if Stockport fail to win on Tuesday, then the silverware would still be up for grabs going into the last two games of the season.
