Former Celtic defender Darnell Fisher has announced his retirement from football. At the age of just 29, the defender has decided to hang up his boots, citing a knee injury as the key reason he has done so.
Fisher spent a few years at Celtic, managing to make a total of 21 appearances for the club, scoring once. He moved South in 2016, but injury has plagued him.
To his retirement post on Instagram, a few of his old teammates at Celtic reacted. Scott Brown said ‘All the best in the future my man. Stay positive’. Winger Scott Sinclair quipped ‘All the best in the future geeza! Top man’.

Mikael Lustig wished him the best – ‘All the best my man’ – along with Joe Ledley, who said ‘All the best mate’. It is a shame that Fisher has had to put an end to his playing days so early on.
The Englishman contributed to two of Celtic’s historic second nine-in-a-row and looks to have been fondly admired by his old teammates. Fisher never made it big in Glasgow, but he dawned the hoops nevertheless, and it is certain everyone involved with the club will wish him all the best going forward.
