Former Celt Rejects Return to Scotland with Celtic’s Biggest Rivals

Former Celt Shaun Maloney looks to have shunned the chance to move back to Scotland and has instead opted to sign a new one year extension with Hull City, according to reports in Hull.

The former Scottish international has only played 19 times for Hull City in his two seasons there and played under three managers. However, after relegation to the Championship, Hull are keen to keep a hold of him as they try and get back into the EPL at the first time of trying.

Hibernian and Aberdeen are both keen to sign the former Celtic youth player but their efforts look to have been in vain with Hull offering the player new terms.

Aberdeen are trying to match their managers ambition after McInnes opted to stay at Pittodre instead of taking the Sunderland role and Shaun Maloney was an ambitious target for the dons. They now move on and hope to wrap up a deal for former St Johnstone man Stevie May, while Neil Lennon and Hibs are still in the market for reinforcements as they look to solidify their SPFL status this season.
