Former Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has rated his current club’s chance of Euro progression as 50/50 after the Danish side were drawn against The Rangers.
The Europa League doubleheader will see the great Dane head back to Glasgow to play at Ibrox. He once scored against the club but on that day Celtic lost out on penalties.
Since leaving Celtic, the defender has been successful on his return to Denmark and as he looks to help the club to a Europa League group stage place, he’s taking nothing for granted.
“I think our chance of going through is 50/50, but it will be insanely difficult.” he told SunSport.
“It’s going to be two exciting ties – Rangers will come to Denmark with a lot of fans and they have a really strong team.
“I had the pleasure of playing against them five times while at Celtic. Rangers are physical and fast
“But we are at home in the first leg and I think we have a chance if we can keep another clean sheet – something we have being doing a lot of recently.”
Erik was part of the invincible Celtic side which went the whole domestic season without losing a game.
He would love to have a helping hand in knocking Celtic’s Glasgow rivals out of the competition.
Midtjylland didn’t make the group stage last year and will be looking to right that wrong this time around.
