Hickey, who was heavily linked with a move back to Glasgow and with some Italian outlets reporting that formal contact had been made between Celtic and Bologna which was said to lead to a bid that was later rejected.
Hickey has already had two spells at Celtic but left to join Hearts in order to get more game time. After the Edinburgh club was relegated he opted for a move to Italy. The move was ambitious but after a tricky first season, it is safe to say he is flying at the moment.
With Villa said to make a move for the Scottish player this January, Chelsea and AC Millan are also interested in his services.
Hickey is a top player and it won’t be long before he gives his national team boss a selection headache. At just 19-years-old, the future is bright for the kid who will just keep improving.
