Finally! Lennon Hints at First Team Recall for Dropped Celtic Star

NEIL LENNON has hinted he could be set to recall his summer signing to the starting XI after dropping over a month ago. Vasilis Barkas has bee sitting on the bench while Scott Bain has taken his place in goals.

Scott has been average at best and while Barkas wasn’t having a top run of form for the club, he will be looking at Bain’s form and wondering why he’s still on the bench.

That could all change against Ross County on Sunday afternoon; the Celtic manager is toying with the idea of bringing in a couple of fringe players to help give the side a boost against County.

Barkas coming in and getting a clean sheet potentially would be great to see.

The Celtic manager did say infer he wasn’t happy with the Greek’s body language and the way he started this season.

“I see this game as a chance to maybe make a few changes, but not too many. All positions will be considered.” Neil Lennon told SunSport.

“It’s been difficult for Barkas, as it has been for all the new players.

“He’s come from a different country and different climate into a different environment.

“He did okay, but he can do better and I think he knows that. He’s getting more accustomed to the tempo of the game, the physicality and what’s required of him.

“Whether I bring him in or not is irrelevant. I want to see an improvement in his body language and his functionality as a keeper.”

Celtic are playing in the League Cup, hoping to defend their trophy for the fifth time in a row.

It’s not going to be easy but the opportunity is there to get more silverware. If Barkas does get the nod, he could make the Scottish Cup Final in December.
