‘Fed Up’ – Rodgers Shuts Down Celtic Transfer Talk

Celtic marked flag day with a narrow 1-0 victory over St Mirren at Celtic Park, but post-match conversation quickly shifted to the transfer market.

With Nicolas Kuhn having departed for Como, there’s a clear need for fresh attacking quality. Supporters are eager to see reinforcements arrive, particularly in the wide areas, before the window shuts.

Brendan Rodgers, however, is growing tired of the constant questions. While he made it clear that work is going on behind the scenes to strengthen the squad, he doesn’t want every discussion dominated by potential signings. The Irishman’s focus, at least in public, is firmly on the players already at his disposal.

The win over St Mirren showed Celtic’s ability to control a game but also highlighted the need for more clinical finishing. That will only fuel debate about whether fresh faces are required, yet Rodgers’ stance suggests he’d rather keep the focus on performances than speculation.

His comments after the match were blunt but revealing, business may still be happening, but he’s done talking about it. The message was clear: trust the process and concentrate on what’s on the park.

He said: (Scottish Football Podcast), “No, no, no, no. I’m fed up talking about transfers. I think we’ve got to the end of the window.

“So we’re concentrating on what’s here. A lot of work going on behind the scenes to improve the squad. And yeah, we’ll just enjoy this here.”

Rodgers’ irritation at the transfer chatter shows a manager determined to keep the spotlight on his current squad. While supporters want clarity on new arrivals, Rodgers appears content to let the behind-the-scenes work speak for itself when the time comes.

This approach signals his trust in the players already in the building. The likes of Daizen Maeda, Adam Idah, and Yang will be relied upon to provide the goals and creativity required to keep Celtic ahead of the pack in the title race.

Rodgers also knows that constant speculation can unsettle a squad. By shutting down public talk of transfers, he is protecting his players from the distraction and ensuring focus remains on winning matches in the here and now.

Whether a new attacker arrives before the deadline or not, Celtic will be judged on results. For now, Rodgers has made his position clear, the work continues in the background, but his eyes are firmly fixed on what’s happening on the pitch.
