There are not many times Celtic fans disagree with Brendan Rodgers, but it seems when it comes to Erik Sviatchenko they are doing just that.
After bringing in a defender before the window properly opens and preferring Boyata, Simunovic, Ajer and even Bitton at centre-back rather than the Dane the defenders days at Celtic look numbered but fans believe he should be given a chance.
Since being injured the player has not regained his spot within the team even after getting back to full fitness, although not match sharp, but that comes with actually playing matches.
Erik has a good bond with the Celtic support off the pitch and many feel he’s the type of player the club should be rallying behind.
In his first season, the defender was complimented for his composed and stern approach to defending. Since then, like most of our defenders, Erik’s credentials have been called into question with the microscope firmly placed on any mistake a Celtic defender makes.
These fans think it would be a mistake to sell Erik in January, but those pleas may be falling on deaf ears with Compper ready to stake his claim for a place.
Selling Sviatchenko is a mistake

As for Sviatchenko, when he was given his chance under cRonny, he was class and seeing interviews with him off the field, very well read, club captain potential going forward….. He shone under Ronny which was a rareity…

Sviatchenko over Boyata any day for me. Not sure why Brendan doesn’t really rate him. I like Simunovic though no nonsense guy
