‘False’ – Brendan Rodgers Sets Record Straight

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has recently opened up about the club’s summer transfer activities, aiming to set the record straight amidst various interpretations of his earlier comments.

Rodgers, who has been at the helm since June, has been generally pleased with the squad but also believes there’s room for improvement.

“What I did say was that any manager who goes into a window will always feel at the end of a window they maybe could’ve done a little bit more,” Rodgers told the BBC.

This sentiment is one that resonates with managers across the footballing world, and Rodgers is no exception. While he’s content with the players who have joined the squad, he also feels that the team could benefit from a few more additions.

Rodgers was keen to clarify that his comments were not a criticism of the board or the quality of players brought in. “I never said anything else other than that, so I’ve been really happy with the boys that have come in. We know the areas that we want to improve in, we know the areas that we have to improve in. You’re never going to do that in one window,” he added.

The Irishman also spoke about his future plans for the squad. “What we aim to do and what we want to do going forward is improve the quality within the squad. That doesn’t mean I’m not happy with the club so I’m pretty sure that people will look at that and focus on that and try to drive a wedge very, very early on between myself and the board,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers warned against any attempts to create a “false narrative” that could potentially harm the relationship between him and the board. “Whatever stories try to get created around that, they’ll be false,” he assured.

The Celtic boss concluded by saying, “The minute I’m happy here, really happy with everything, is the time I probably move on because to drive standards and move things forward you have to be looking for more.” This statement reflects Rodgers’ ambition and aligns well with the aspirations of the Celtic fanbase, especially as the team aims for success in Europe.

CeltsAreHere was quick to point out the media spin on Rodgers comments earlier this week. While some fan media decided to indulge the media and what they were doing, it was clear this was an attempt to make mischief.
