Sead Haksabanovic changed his plans this week when he discovered Celtic’s interest was serious. The player looked set return to training on Monday to keep in shape while his future was sorted out.
The winger’s stance is clear; he wants to leave Russia and is keen to join Celtic. A move is close to competition, with a medical soon to be completed. Celtic has nearly agreed on a cut-price package with Rubin Kazan, who initially wanted £6 million for the player.
Swedish journalist Daniel Kristofferson told the CeltsAreHere podcast that Sead was supposed to return to training on Monday, but when he found out about Celtic’s interest, his plans changed.
“He was about to start training on Monday with Djurgarden [His loan club last season], but then he said ‘no, because Celtic are in the race again; they are probably really close to an agreement with Kazan.'”
Contradicting reports have left the real picture looking a bit fuzzy. Some outlets have claimed that the move is essentially completed, whilst others claim that a fee is yet to be agreed upon.
One thing is clear, Celtic want Haksabanovic, and Haksabanovic wants Celtic. A deal will almost definitely be completed before the window slams shut.
