Exclusive: Celtic Not Giving Up, ‘Closely Monitoring’ Potential Marquee Signing

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has provided further insight into Celtic’s goalkeeping situation, hinting that the Scottish club is keeping a close eye on various potential targets and massively, they haven’t given up on potential marquee signing Dominik Livakovic.

Joseph notably mentioned Dinamo Zagreb’s Dominik Livakovic, who has been linked with Celtic throughout the summer.

“Celtic have been closely monitoring Livakovic’s situation. A few days after I reported on it, Fenerbahce had made a bid and they were very close to doing that deal. That deal hasn’t been done yet, there has been a lot of delay to that and it could be on the brink of collapse.

“Other clubs are also interested, we reported that Villareal, Saudi Arabian clubs and I believe another La Liga side are also in for him,” Joseph said on the CeltsAreHere’s flagship podcast.

While Livakovic remains on Celtic’s radar, the club has also evaluated other options due to the Croatian keeper’s near move to Fenerbahce. Joseph suggested that this is perhaps why we saw both Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain feature in the 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao.

“Celtic have moved onto other targets. As far as I’m aware, they’re not any further on with these targets yet, and they’re still fully assessing the goalkeeping situation. I think that’s why we saw Siegrist and Scott Bain play the 90 minutes against Bilbao, and Joe Hart didn’t play any,” Joseph elaborated.

The Sky Sports journalist’s comments shed light on Celtic’s ongoing goalkeeping considerations and indicate that the club may be contemplating a significant shift in this area. While Hart has been a stalwart for the side, it appears the club is keeping all options open, which could lead to an interesting development as the season unfolds.
