If we cast our minds back to the beginning of the summer, former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe looked nailed on to become the next Celtic boss.
However, the move turned into somewhat of a saga, with Howe ultimately turning down the chance to take up the role due to several different, reported reasons – which meant it took Celtic over 100+ days to appoint a new manager of the club.
A few months after the saga, the Englishman finally looks like he could be edging closer to a return to football management as he continues talks with English Premier League side Newcastle United.
Talks are on-going between Newcastle and Eddie Howe over their vacant manager’s position.
Howe is under serious consideration following Unai Emery’s rejection yesterday.

In the aftermath of the Eddie Howe situation, we, of course, appointed Ange Postecoglou. At first, after a long old sage, that news was met with confusion, given now many knew who the former Socceroos boss was.
Looking back at it now, I think many Celtic fans will be delighted that we were able to get Ange over Howe.
The two characters seem entirely different. Howe deliberated whether he should take the job for months, whereas Ange was straight in after a few weeks and ready to go.
We can only imagine what sort of situation we would be in if we had Howe instead of Ange. But seeing the way things turned out, I would say I’m delighted that Ange is the man to lead this club, and he is certainly going the right way about it.
