Ex-Hoops Star Touts Major Parkhead U-Turn

MARK WILSON believes an immediate Eddie Howe appointment could be the key to keeping some of the wantaway stars in the Hoops dressing room.

The former Celtic defender told Sky Sports he would like to see Eddie come to Glasgow this week, take the team over and begin the process of assessing the team and their intentions.

If the former Bournemouth manager is to be the man to replace Neil Lennon on a permanent basis, Wilson sees no value in waiting until the summer to take charge.

“It looks as if Eddie Howe is interested in the Celtic job but might not take it until the summer.

“I’m of the opinion I’d like to see Eddie in Glasgow now – this week.” Wilson claimed, as cited by SUNSPORT.

“You want to get him in before the Scottish Cup tie against Rangers to give him the best opportunity to assess the squad.

“And maybe he can try and convince some of these guys who are linked with moves away like Edouard, Ajer and Christie that it’s in their best interests to stay under him and a new coaching team.

“But it’s a tough decision for the Celtic hierarchy to get right.”

Verdict

I would be sceptical if any player who is currently looking to leave Celtic Park will suddenly change their mind with a new appointment.

Edouard and Ajer are looking to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues – it’s nothing to do with who is in charge.

The fact many of them wanted out at the start of this season says it all. There’s no real reason why any of them would now suddenly stay.

It’s all about recruitment and a new manager coaching the players who want to be here.
