Two former Celtic players went head-to-head in Europe last night as Genk hammered Lech Poznań 5–1 in the first leg of their Europa League play-off away from home. Luis Palma had a tough outing, while Hyeon-gyu Oh played a key part despite an early mistake.
In the 38th minute, Oh took a penalty but saw it saved. Just two minutes later, he made up for it by smashing in Genk’s fourth goal. It was a clear sign of his drive to respond quickly.
Palma had a harder night. Lech Poznań, who signed him on loan from Celtic, were taken apart on their own patch. The Polish side couldn’t handle Genk’s pace and movement, and Palma struggled to make an impact going forward.
Oh’s good start in Belgium, where he’s already scored in league and Europe, will raise questions in Glasgow about Celtic’s decision to let him go. Signed for about £2.5 million and sold for a reported £4.5 million, he’s now worth more than double, with Genk knocking back a £9 million offer from Feyenoord.

For Celtic supporters, seeing Oh shine while Palma fades brings up real questions about recent transfer calls. Both had promise, but only one stood out on Thursday night.
